It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Adolfo Ruiz Almanza Sr., 75, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed member of the community. Adolfo embarked on his eternal journey on February 7, 2024, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Adolfo was born in Barstow, Texas to Roman and Delfina Almanza on October 2, 1948. Adolfo's childhood was shaped by their values of hard work, compassion, and integrity. A dedicated employee of the city of Monahans for several years, Adolfo eventually found his calling at Star Electric, where he served with unwavering commitment for over three decades until his well-deserved retirement.
Yet beyond his professional pursuits, it was baseball that truly ignited Adolfo's spirit. From a young age until his twilight years, he lived and breathed the game. His passion for baseball was unmatched and served as an endless source of joy in his life. But it was not just playing or watching the sport that brought him satisfaction; coaching young and aspiring players held a special place in his heart. Adolfo was an avid fan for not only baseball but also football, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys during football season and the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers during baseball season.
Adolfo's legacy extends far beyond the realm of sports. As a devoted husband, he shared an unbreakable bond with Elvira Chavez Almanza for 57 years. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with unwavering support, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Elvira stood by his side through thick and thin, and their love was a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who knew them.
Adolfo leaves behind a profound and lasting impact on his children, Adolfo Ray Almanza Jr. and his wife, Corina, of Midland, TX, Belinda Kay Almanza, and Daniel Ray Almanza - all of whom he loved unconditionally. His memory will be treasured by his twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Their lives have been immeasurably enriched by the love, wisdom, and lessons Adolfo imparted upon them.
Adolfo is also survived by his four sisters, Ofelia Juarez of Barstow, TX, Connie Naegele, and husband, Otto, of Farmington, NM, Lucilla Quiroz of Odessa Texas, and Josefa Segovia of Odessa TX. He shared an unbreakable bond with each of them throughout their lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Delfina Almanza; his brother, Ernesto Almanza; his sister, Otelia Garcia; and three great-grandchildren.
Adolfo Ruiz Almanza Sr.'s departure from this world leaves an immense void in the hearts of all those who had the privilege to know him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family will continue to inspire future generations.
