Adolph "Mac"McKnight, 91, of Monahans, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born on June 29, 1925 to John and Ethyl McKnight, who preceded him in death.
He served in the Navy and in 1946 married the love of his life, Betty Harrison, in Fort Worth, TX. He was a lifetime Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Monahans.
He was a Mason for 50 years and was a Master Mason on three lodges. He received the highest award, 'The Grand Trowel' in Arlington, TX. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Disabled American Vets, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Monahans.
He owned A McKnight Motor Company in Arlington and lived in Arlington until he retired and moved to Monahans with his wife.
He loved his family and adored all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to garden and work outside on his cars. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns.
"Mac" is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty of Monahans; sister Juanita Blocker of Fort Worth; daughter Missy and husband Randy Bates of Monahans; grandchildren Hollie, Christie, and Chris of Monahans, and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael and his parents.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Harkey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice in his honor.
