In the first week of July Albert and Ruby Gallas passed away peacefully. Ruby Gallas passed away on July 3rd, 2022, at the age of 95 with Albert by her side holding her hand with family surrounding them. Al Gallas passed away on July 5th, 2022, at the age of 96 with family.
Al Gallas was born on July 15th, 1925, to Albert Godfred Gallas and Edna Sophia Heinze Gallas in Miles, Texas. Al was the middle child of three children.
Ruby White Gallas was born on August 3rd, 1926, to Robert Isaac White and Onus Evangeline Crabb White in Gorman, Texas. Ruby was the youngest of eight children.
Al Gallas and his family moved to Grandfalls in October of 1934. Ruby White and her family moved to Grandfalls in 1939. When a young Al and Ruby met on the stairs of the Grandfalls Royalty High School Al said, “I knew when I saw her, I wanted to marry that lady.” They married on October 30, 1943 in Grandfalls, Tx at the Grandfalls Union Church and were married for 78 years.
Al was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps and went into active duty as an engineer in 1944 and was sent to Okinawa in May 1945. As he was building the Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Ruby worked at a Cleaners, Sewed Navy Flags, and worked in the shipyards.
When Al returned to the United States in March 1946 they moved to Kermit, Texas. Al worked for Bass Enterprises for 42 years before retiring. Ruby worked as a licensed cosmetologist for a few years and worked as a bank teller for 25 years before retiring.
They had two children Millie and Daniel Gallas. They moved their family from Kermit to Monahans in 1965 where they settled down and lived out the rest of their years together.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Onus White, four brothers, three sisters, and their children Millie Stuckey and Daniel Gallas. Ruby was survived by her husband Al for 2 days.

They are survived by their three grandchildren James and Dena Floyd, Dana Floyd, and Jon Floyd, their two great grandchildren Garrett Floyd and Danielle Dunlap, and four great-great grandchildren Shylar Carpenter-Floyd, Abraham Ortega, Daniel Ortega, and Evelyn Martinez.
Visitation will be on Friday July 15th, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday July 16th, 2022, at 10:00 AM with Beth Harrington, officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
