It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alfredo Rubio Franco, 81, of Monahans, Texas. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, community servant, and cherished friend. Born June 12, 1943, in Presidio, Texas, Alfredo left this world on January 27, 2025, reuniting with the love of his life in Heaven.

Alfredo's journey through life was marked by his true commitment to his work and community. He built a legacy as a talented butcher, sharing his skills at the Village Food Market, Sumner’s Food, M-System, and Pay-N-Save. He later took on the role of janitor at Tatom, Sudderth and Walker Jr. High School, demonstrating his commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment for students and staff alike. His spiritual journey included participation in Cursillistas, serving as a catechist for CCD, and leading the CYO youth program. He sang in the choir, served as an altar server from a very young age, a Eucharist Minister and even coached softball, exemplifying his belief in the importance of nurturing both faith and community spirit. Alfredo’s contributions were recognized when he was inducted into the Loboes for Life Hall of Honor, a testament to his impact on the local youth.

Known for his vivacious personality, Alfredo never met a stranger. His warm smile and quick wit created instant connections with everyone he encountered. He was especially recognized for his unique nicknames for friends and family, and he will forever be remembered for his famous "bologna and cheese” samples that he shared with kids at the meat market.
