Amy Clark

Amy Ruth Clark was born May 9, 1942 in Seguin, TX to Stella Hobbs and Jim Baker. Married Eldon Clark December 12, 1957 in Tacoma, WA.

Survived by son Dennis Clark and daughter Susan Burton as well as nephew Kirk Clark who was like one of her own. Grandchildren Jessica Avalos, Jennifer Mccleaf, Jennifer Norris, Amy Ming, Dennis Clark Jr, Brandon and Bryan Clark. Greatgrandchildren Brittany, Brianna & Bryan Ming, Braxton Brown, Jeana, Adrian, Kynzie & Raylee Avalos, Leslie Shelton & Drake Poe, Hailey  Wesbrooks, Jaylee Anderson, Casey Jo & Landon Shewmake and Greyson Mccleaf, and 6 great great grandchildren.

Preceded by Eldon Clark (husband), Bettie George and Alice Frank PhD (sisters) and Sheila Anderson (granddaughter),

Moved from Sequin, TX in 1944 to Tacoma, WA (rode the train with the Soldiers). In 1946 came down with spinal meningitis (was misdiagnosed With Polio), lost hearing because of the high fever, had to learn to walk and talk All over again. In April of 1949 there was an earthquake and a timber at the General Mills (cheerio factory) fell on her Dad and broke his back, and then the day before school started their house burned. The Baker Kids took on odd jobs to help make end meet, her Mom cooked. Amy & Eldon with their little family moved back to Texas in April 1960.

She taught Sunday school at First United Methodist Church in Wickett. She was PTA Parliamentarian at Gensler Elementary. She helped Mary McMahan organize and start Brownie Troop #33 and also helped with the cub scouts. She also helped with class parties and sewed costumes for Christmas Program at Gensler. In 1969 Dad started his field service.

Amy went to work for Weaver Construction as a dump truck driver until all the kinks were work out for Dad’s business. Then she was always helping him in the field, shop, and invoicing for his business. At Clark's Automotive, she inspected thousands of cars and trucks every year. Always offering her cooked goodies like oatmeal crisp cookies, banana nut bread, fudge, strawberry jelly while the               customers waited. She always enjoyed visiting with everyone while she inspected their vehicle. She was a good mechanic too. She took the FAA pilot exam to see how the test was, so she could help Daddy and Dutch to study for the written exam. She would dress up at Halloween and go with us trick or treating. She paid a dozen cookies an hour for yard work to neighborhood kids. Everyone loved coming to our house. Mom never met a stranger and made lots of friends who became more like family over the years. The love she shared was a blessing to all.
