It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Armando Madrid Jr., beloved husband, son, brother, father, and friend. Armando Jr., aged 50, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024, in Monahans, TX, surrounded by his loving family. His departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on March 23, 1973, in Pecos, TX, Armando Jr. was the cherished son of Armando Madrid and Anita Cano. From an early age, Armando possessed an incredible work ethic, which he carried with him throughout his life. For 27 years, he dedicated his skills and passion as a pumper operator in the petroleum industry. Armando’s diligent nature never allowed him to miss a day of work. He tirelessly embraced his role, leaving an indelible mark on his colleagues and the industry.
Descended from a vibrant Mexican, Mexican American, and Chicano heritage, Armando personified strength, resilience, and compassion. Armando always stood as a protector to his family. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband to his beloved spouse, Monica Franco. Their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to all who witnessed it.
In his free time, Armando found comfort in the great outdoors. The warm Texas sun beckoned him, as he tirelessly washed his vehicles and meticulously maintained his grass. His obsession for order and detail, stemming from his gentle OCD tendencies, was evident in each task he undertook. Alongside his unwavering work ethic, Armando possessed a remarkable talent for building and restoring furniture, a passion that brought him immense joy.
Armando had a simple yet profound love for life's simple pleasures. He had a sweet tooth that knew no bounds, and his delight in indulging in all sorts of sweets was infectious to those around him. Additionally, he found joy in following the adventures of Dog the Bounty Hunter and passionately supporting the iconic Dallas Cowboys. These moments, embraced with enthusiasm, became cherished memories that he shared with loved ones.
Armando is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Zryan Jay Madrid and Jeremy James Madrid Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Monica Franco; his children, Jeremy J. Madrid (Airam), Patrick M. Madrid, Briana Marie Cordova (Eddy); brother, Isaac C. Madrid (Renee); sister, Jennifer Madrid Inman (Michael); father, Armando Madrid, Sr.; mother, Anita Chavez Cano (Edward); grandchildren, Jazlene Paige Madrid, Zari Azalyn Madrid, and Yana Elva Ramos, Cesar-Damian, Daniel Jr. and Sofia; stepchildren, Monique (Jorge), Daniel (Cindi), Angelita, and his beloved cat, Kitty Madrid; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers are as follows: Isaac Madrid Jr., Devin Carrasco, Jason Acosta, Louie Franco, Isaac Granado, Jesse Evaro, Kyle Womack, and Manuel Reyes.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Harkey Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with a Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Armando’s life at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans, TX at 7:00 PM. Armando will be laid to rest, 4:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
The family of Armando wishes to extend our sincere thanks to The Oncology Center of Odessa, MCH, Ward Memorial Hospital and Home Hospice, and to Maverick Natural Resources as we bid farewell to a remarkable man who touched our lives in countless ways, let us remember Armando’s legacy of hard work, love, and compassion. May his spirit guide us as we navigate this world and may his memory forever be a beacon of light in our hearts.
