Arthur Thames

Arthur Loyd Thames, 75, of Monahans, Texas, passed away on March 4, 2020 in Midland, Texas.

Visitation will be 4pm to 6pm, Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Harkey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2020, 2pm at Immanuel Baptist Church with David Klewer of Immanuel Baptist officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetary.

Loyd was born in Lamesa, Texas to Mary Margaret Matthews and Campbell T. Thames on June 25, 1944. He graduated from Denver City High School and attended Texas Tech University.  He married the love of his life, Carrolyn LaJuana Jones on June, 8, 1963 in Denver City, Texas.  He worked for El Paso Natural Gas over 40 years before retiring.  He was very involved in the 4-H program everywhere he lived. He served for many years on the Board of the Ward County Livestock Show. Loyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Loyd is preceded in death by his wife LaJuana Thames, parents Campbell and Angela Thames and Margaret and Jay Matthews.

Loyd is survived by son, Steven Thames and wife Nikki of Petaluma, California, daughters, Doretta Price of Wallis, Texas, Dorinda Hummel and husband Larry of Monahans, Texas, Carolynda Johnson of Monahans, Texas, sister Katie Harris of Bartelsville, Oklahoma, step-brothers Rick Merritt and Kreg Merritt of Arlington, Texas, Clevern Matthews of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Justin Grametbaur, Josh Grametbaur, Bobby Langston, Zachary Price, Riley Price, Rex Campbell, Adam Steen, Larry Hummel, Will Griffin, DJ Johnson

Honorary Pallbearers: Kier Thames, Tyshawn Thames, Jonah Thames.
