Baine Allen Bean, Jr. passed away early February 9, 2024, peacefully at his home. He was a man that could do anything he wanted to do, except quit “those damned ol’ cigarettes.” He was 66 years old.
Baine was born August 6, 1957, in Big Spring, TX to Baine A. and Dixie Bean. He graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, in 1976 (and went to work shortly thereafter)! He married the love of his life, Debra Jones, August 29, 1980.
Never a man to be constrained by a narrow career path, Baine followed endless interests. He hauled freight, built custom western boots, owned a welding business, installed windows, was a shop mechanic, and led kids on horseback on week-long treks into the Davis Mountains. Baine worked as a pumper until a few days before he passed. He had a rare understanding (and respect!) for everything in the oil patch, above or below ground.
Baine worked tirelessly as an adult leader with the Buffalo Trail Council, BSA. He was awarded Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow and considered Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch his second home.
He loved to tinker with pre-to mid-1970’s cars and trucks; searched for treasures with his metal detector, or in scratch-off lottery tickets; and drinking coffee.
Baine was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Danny.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra; their daughter, Tiffany (John) Willhelm of Lubbock, sons, Chris (Sherry) Gilbreath of San Angelo, & Lance (Jeni) Gilbreath of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and adoptive niece and nephew Nikki and James Carver.
Baine was especially devoted to his grandchildren Alyssa, Skeeter, Justin, Elijah, and Terry and great-grandchildren Nate, Kadin, and Payton. He is also survived by brother Roy (DeeAnn) Bean of Monahans, sister Gwen (Gary) Pool of Richards, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday February 13, 2024, from 5:30-8pm at Harkey Funeral Home, (210 Allen Ave, Monahans).
