Barbara Gonzalez Valles was born February 4, 1925 in Sanderson, Texas
Strong and beautiful would be the common adjectives used by family and friends to describe her. Far from being common, Barbara had the strength to withstand any storm she encountered as well as a glowing beauty that came from within. Her faith in God and love for her family were unshakeable. The Holy Rosary were her last words spoken before she went to sleep at night.
She was loving, gentle and kind, but had no problem addressing any situation in which she need to be stern (AKA giving you an attitude adjustment!). Her style and grace were impeccable. She could throw on a blouse and pair of pants to run an errand and look like a Sak Fifth Avenue model. She could glide across the dance floor in 3" heels like she was floating on air.
Barbara could take a pound of hamburger meat, turn it into a gourmet meal and feed a multitude of friends and family. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help a friend in need.
Preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Soto Valles, whom she married December 31, 1952 and daughters Yolanda Ordonez and Gloria Vijil, Barbara Gonzalez Valles took her last breath of life on December 14, 2017 at her home in Monahans.
She leaves behind many that are sadden along with a missing piece of their hearts. Among those are:
Son: Pablo R. Valles and wife Denise; daughters: Amelia Sanchez and husband Jubentino and Elsa Alaniz; son-in-laws: Oscar Vijil and Henry Ordonez. Grandchildren: Ruben Vijil, Sylvia(Steve) Fortson, Tino (Maria Elena) Sanchez, Mitchell Sanchez, Rosemary Sanchez, Paula(John) Cota, Paul Ordonez, Frank Ordonez, Anton Ordonez, Sindy (Oscar) Fuentes, Corey (Ana) Valles, Allison (Mody) Diaz-Granados, Micah Alaniz and Mariah Valles-Hardaway. Numerous great grandchildren and great-great children - which she knew each and every name.
