Beverly Fletcher Erwin Bennett
June 17, 1946 - February 23, 2018

Beverly Fletcher Erwin Bennett passed away in her sleep early in the morning of February 23, 2018, at the age of 71 years, in Fairfax, California.

Beverly was born on June 17, 1946, in London, England to Dora Davies and Myron Fletcher. They met in England during the war, where her mother was serving in the Royal Air Force and her father was in the U.S. Air Force. Beverly was brought to the United States when she was 9 months old, when the family was stationed at the Pyote Air Force Base. After Myron left the family, Dora brought Beverly and her 2 younger sisters Sharon and Debra to Monahans. Dora's mother Marjorie Davies joined them from England, and these two powerful and loving women raised the three young girls.

Beverly loved Monahans, Texas. She loved and married the young man (J. B. Erwin) who came into the grocery store where she worked. She loved her sorority (Beta Sigma Phi) and helping to organize their yearly haunted houses. She loved swimming in the summers in the pool in Pyote and surfing down the dunes at the Sandhills. She loved driving into Odessa to shop. She loved to go camping, even if she always seemed to get lost on the way there. She loved taking her boys to Six Flags in Arlington, where she would go on ride after ride. She loved the First United Methodist Church and going to church camp at Sacramento. She loved the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. She loved beauty pageants and Broadway musicals. She loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved anything Lobo. Most importantly, Beverly passionately loved her family and friends.

Beverly was only 30 years old when she was suddenly on her own with her 2 sons (Stephen and Rodney) after the death of her beloved husband J. B. in 1977. This loss ignited in her an even stronger desire to live her life fully. In 1986, Beverly was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which ended up taking her ability to walk. However, she continued to work, travel, and laugh that singular laugh that could brighten any day. She sent both of her sons to college and offered unconditional love and support to them throughout her life.

Beverly moved to an assisted living community in 1993 in Big Spring, Texas. She loved exploring her new town on her Rascal scooter, going shopping at Wal-Mart and eating out with her new friends. She fell in love with one of these friends and married Jamie Bennett in 1994. They moved out of the assisted living community and into their own house in Big Spring. They loved making ceramics with their own kiln, taking care of their dogs, collecting Precious Moments figurines, and playing cards with friends. Beverly won a Caribbean cruise in a Precious Moments sweepstakes, and they traveled together to New York City, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. Jamie passed away in 2009.

Following Jamie's death, Beverly was blessed to have her sister Debra move to Big Spring and live next door. They were inseparable and loved each other dearly. They adopted more dogs and cats. They helped to take care of each other through some difficult health struggles for both of them. By this point, Beverly was bedbound. Debra passed away in 2015. Shortly afterwards, Beverly moved to California to live near her sons and family.

Beverly loved living in the midst of a bustling household with her son Rodney and son-in-law Lance and her 4 grandchildren in California. She loved dressing up for the annual Halloween party. She loved making new friends again. She loved trying new foods (Thai and Indian were her favorites). She loved watching Jeopardy every night with Rodney and Judge Judy with Lance. She slept through a couple of earthquakes. She even loved the San Francisco Giants. She was so excited to watch figure skating in the Olympics.

Beverly always talked about being able to walk again in heaven, where she would run to greet all of the dear people in her life who had gone before her: her grandmother Marjorie Davies, parents Myron and Dora Fletcher, her sister Debra Fletcher Dodson and brother-in-law Russell Dodson, her husbands J B Erwin and Jamie Bennett.

She loved and was loved by her family that remains in grief without her: her sons Stephen Erwin and Rodney Erwin; son-in-law Lance Martinez; grandchildren Emma Martinez, Adam Martinez, Jesse Martinez, and Wyatt Martinez; her sister Sharon Fletcher Spurgin; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Beverly's family and friends are invited to celebrate her amazing life on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2PM, at the First United Methodist Church in Monahans, Texas, followed by burial in the Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be hosted at the Harkey Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 10AM-8PM, as well as the morning of March 3.
