Charles J. McNabb, 92, of Monahans, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Monahans Managed Care Center. He was born February 10, 1923 in Claude, TX to Ashel Lee and Veda Sims (Dearing) McNabb.
He married Madge C. Cabot on June 18, 1942 in Wolfforth, TX. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2013 after 70 years of marriage.
He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.
He moved to Monahans in 1963 and worked a self-employed insurance agent where he owned and operated McNabb Insurance Agency with his wife. He has been the Vice President of the Texas Insurance Association; Vice President of Jaycees, President of the Kiwanis Club, Vice President of Monahans Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Ward County Sheriff's Association, and a lifelong member of the country club. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
Charles was a sportsman and an avid golfer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Madge C. McNabb; son, Charles Scott McNabb; and brother, Millard L. McNabb.
Charles is survived by his son, Michael Owen McNabb of West Fork, Arkansas; daughter, Nancy M. Hill of Monahans; and 3 grandchildren, Michelle McNabb of San Diego, CA, Jason C. Mayfield of San Angelo, and Thomas A. Thompson IV of Odessa.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 1 PM at Harkey Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Legacy of Life in Charles' honor.
