Coby Slaughter

August 20, 1980 — September 7, 2016

This is the life of Coby Slaughter, 36, passed away on September 7, 2016 though it was short in years it is long in memories! He was born on August 20, 1980 in Kermit, Tx. He is the big brother to 4 siblings, Casie, Cayla, Tate and TyAnn.

This little cotton top boy spent his afternoons growing up following his dad everywhere he went.

Coby Slaughter attended school in Wink, Texas where he graduated in 1999. He loved being a Wink Wildcat. He played junior high and high school football. Senior year, of his football career, brought some special awards. He was named Class 1A all-state defensive and offensive lineman. Coby proudly wore #78!

After high school, Coby decided to enter the United States Army. He left Texas and headed for South Carolina, but he only stayed for a short time. Coby's feet started to give him problems during boot camp, so he was given an honorable medical discharge. He wanted so much to serve his country. He was heart broken. Upon returning home to Texas, Coby at the age of 18, joined the Wink Volunteer Fire Department. In this matter, he could still serve.

Coby was a hard worker at any job he did. He was an amazing equipment operator. If it was a piece of machinery, he could drive and operate it with so much ease. The oilfield was his paycheck but being a cowboy was his passion. He loved being on a horse, either working cattle or roping.

For the last 8 years he ran the family owned trucking and disposal business, S&W Enterprises, in Wink. Along with that he helped out on the family owned ranches in Wink and Pyote, RS Ranch and 7L Ranch. Ranching was his passion and his love.

Coby was a big family man. He married the love of his life, Kama Slaughter, on November 19, 2011 in front of his family and friends. Coby loved being a father and he was so proud of all of his children. Makaila, 13, Ethan, 12, Emilee, 12, Remington, 8, Landree and Laramie, 18 months, were his world. His legacy will live on in his children.

Coby was one of a kind! He was the toughest and sweetest cowboy in this part of the country. If anyone ever needed a hand, he was there with no hesitation. He never met a stranger. Coby Slaughter will be missed by many!

Coby Slaughter is survived by his wife Kama Slaughter and his children Makaila, Ethan, Emilee, Remington, Landree and Laramie. His loving parents Russ and Debbie Slaughter and Julie Davis Flores. Three sisters and one brother, Casie Granado, Cayla Slaughter, Tate Slaughter and TyAnn, along with their families.
