Daniel “Dan” R. Pipkin, 70, of Monahans, Tx road through Heaven’s gates on February 11, 2025.
He was born May 22, 1954, in Nashville, TN to Willie Jean Dickerson (mother). He spent most of his childhood in Roseburg, OR raised by Willie and her spouse, James Pipkin. At the age of 17, Dan joined the Army where he proudly served in the Vietnam War before returning home. Once home, Dan continued his passion for radio operations by securing a Ham Radio License. You could often find him in his radio room having conversations with people across the globe. On October 13, 1978, Dan married Esperanza Pipkin and together they raised two children: Veronica Ybarra and Will Pipkin. As a father, Dan shared his passion for hunting and fishing. He provided for his family as a meterman for Valero before reaching retirement.
Dan is best known for his hobbies and outside adventures. He was an active member of the Iron Cowboys Motorcycle club holding positions as Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Dan loved serving his community through this club. His favorite charity was Toys for Tots and he worked hard every year to put smiles on children’s faces. Dan was a proud Harley Motorcycle owner and enjoyed taking weekend trips through the Texas country side. When not on the open road, Dan could be found remodeling his home with his best friend Dave, playing fetch with his furbaby Harley, or spending quality time caring for his girlfriend, Dottie. Dan was a huge fan of Redskins football and died still refusing to refer to them as the Commanders. Later in life, Dan met his companion, Dottie Grant, who shared his passion for football and motorcycles. Dan embraced his extended family with love and compassion. Tears of joy and laughter were shared over cheesecake and deep conversations about the color purple. Dan continued to spread his love of fishing with his little buddy Emmitt and the two of them had plans for grand adventures. There is no doubt Dan left a last legacy in the hearts of those who were privileged enough to know him.
His legacy will be carried on by his companion, Dottie Grant, best-friend Dave, his sisters Kathy Pipkin and Tina Walker, children Veronica (Donny) Ybarra, Will (Loretta) Pipkin, grandchildren Alexis, Gabby, Lorenzo, Gunnar, Hayden and Haylee. He was met at Heaven’s gates by his parents, Willie Dickerson and James Pipkin along with a brother who passed as an infant.
