Edith Geneva Alverson, 77, passed away on November 24, 2022 in Midland, Texas.
Geneva was born in Terrell, Texas to John Richardson and Annie Mae Harwell on March 20, 1945.
She attended school in Monahans and married Benny Mitchell in 1960. She was a mother and housewife until their divorce. She moved her 6 children to the Abilene, Texas area for a short time, missing her friends she had in Monahans, she decided to move her family back to Monahans. She worked as a cook in several restaurants and in the early 2000’s open her own business of collectable and finally opening Little House of Treasures on South Stockton. She also had a small fireworks stand where she loved to sell fireworks.
Geneva was preceded in death by her father John Richardson in 1967, her mother Annie Mae Harwell in 2004, a daughter Mary Mitchell in 1998, David Mitchell in 2005, a grandson Rodney Crawford in 2012, and a granddaughter, Denna Mitchell, in 2018.
Geneva is survived by her husband Guinn Alverson, two daughters Rita Crawford of Stanford, Texas and Wanda Chadman Meeks of Monahans, Texas, two sons Dennon Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell of Monahans, Texas, sister Zelma Bennet of Hawley, Texas, nephew Ronnie Tones of Monahans, Texas, niece Misty Bennet of Hawley, Texas, and numerous grandkids, greart grandkids, and four great-great grandkids.
Pallbearers will be Dusten Crawford, Ronnie Tones, Dennon Mitchell, Dickie Williams, Amalio Marruffo, Zach Tones, and Seth Tones.
Honorary Pallbearer is Marcus Maruffo.
Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on November 29, 2022, and also 9:00 am to 11:00 am on November 30, 2022, at Harkey Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on November 30, 2022, at Southside Baptist Church with Joshua Rieffs officiating.
