Elijio Franco Venegas passed away on May 13, 2024, in Odessa.
Elijio was born to Grafido and Paula Venegas, in Ojinaga, Mexico on November 29, 1937.
Before his retirement he spent over 30 years in the oil field industry. After retirement, he really enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his grandkids, nieces/nephews, in addition to his great nieces/nephews.
Elijio is preceded in death by his parents, Grafido and Paula Venegas, 3 brothers, 1 sister, his son, Robert, and his great grandson, Brien Albert Zozaya
Elijio is survived by his wife, Mary Venegas of Monahans, his son, Lieutenant Colonel Elijio Joe Venegas Jr and wife, Susan of Colorado Springs, CO.; his grandkids, Christopher Venegas (Orlando FL), Stephen Venegas and wife, Laurie (Midland TX), Crystal Zozaya and husband, Bryan (Laveen AZ), Michael Venegas (Odessa TX), Cassandra Rodriguez and husband, Norman (Hollywood FL).
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Charles officiating. The Rosary begins at 1:00 PM follo2024, by Mass at 2:00 PM then burial at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are as follows: Lieutenant Colonel Elijio Joe Venegas Jr, Christopher Venegas, Stephen Venegas, Michael Venegas, Hector Venegas, and Alonso Rodrigues.
