Elnora McCalister, 92, formerly of Stanton, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Monahans Managed Care Center. Born on November 12, 1922 in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Vann and Lula (Copeland) Glenn.
She married Edell McCalister. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1998. She lived in Stanton for 70 years until recently when she relocated to Monahans.
She worked many years as a nurse's aide for the Martin County Hospital in Stanton. She was a long time member of St. James Baptist Church in Stanton where she worked on the Mission Board Choir. She was also a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Elnora is survived by her sons, Paul McCalister and wife Ann, and Samuel K. McCalister and wife Marcela, all of Monahans; daughters, Carolyn Jones of Andrews, Joyce McCalister of Lancaster, and Nancy Benford and husband Lane of Beaumont; daughter-in-laws, Delores McCalister of San Antonio and Clotel Boysaw of Monahans; 26 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edell McCalister; sons, Roger McCalister and James Boysaw; parents; Vann and Lula Glenn; 6 brothers; 5 sisters; grandson, Reginald McCalister; and son-in-law, Willie Jones.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 from 9 AM - 8 PM at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 3 PM at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Broadway in Stanton with Pastor R. C. Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Patrick Jones, Chester Cobb, III, Kenny McCalister, Darrest McCalister, Jason Benford, and Justin Cobb will serve as pallbearers.
