Evaristo Yañez

Evaristo Yañez, 68, of Monahans, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 26, 1946 in La Sinagia, Chihuahua, Mexico to Rogelio and Estreberta (Burciaga) Yañez.

He moved to Texas in the 70's to work in the oilfield. He's been in Monahans since 1978. He loved scratch-off lottery tickets and dancing. He was a great pool player and loved taking care of his grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rogelio and Estreberta Yañez; brothers, Socorro Yañez and Seberiano Yañez; and sisters, Leonarda Yañez and Cuca Yañez.

Evaristo is survived by his wife, Ramona Porras Yañez of Monahans; sons, Eliseo Yañez and wife Leonor, Evaristo Yañez and wife Marissa, and Eric Yañez, all of Monahans; daughters, Erica Yañez of Monahans and Elizabeth Porras of Odessa; brother, Felipe Yañez and wife Rosa; sisters, Eladia Yañez, Cristina Yañez, Yolanda Ortiz, Conception Cordova and husband Leobardo, and Juana Porras and husband Jesus; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 11 AM - 8 PM and Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 9 AM - 9 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home chapel at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. John Lucido officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Ricky Yañez, Ruben Yañez, Roy Porras, Elvis Porras, Jessie Porras, and Ismael Balbuena will serve as pallbearers. Destiny Porras, Paris Yañez, Bridgette Yañez, and Angel Valenzuela, Jr. are honorary pallbearers.
