Gary Edwin Wilder, 75, of Monahans passed away on March 3, 2015, in his home. He was born June 13, 1940 to Odie and Druesilla Wilder, in Carrollton Georgia.
He loved to travel, he was a very quiet person, He never knew a stranger, his nick-name was "moron magnet", because he attracted the weirdest people to be his friends. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He served on the USS Lansing from Dec. 3rd 1957- Jan. 5th 1962. He was released under honorable conditions retaining the rank of EN3 (E-4), Petty Officer 3rd Class, Enginemen.
He is preceded in death by his parents Odie and Druesilla Wilder; 2 sons, Scott and Russell Wilder; and grandson, Jeffery Legate.
Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Delores Ann McCabe Wilder; sons, Ricky Wilder and wife Diane, and Eddie Christiansen and wife Gina; daughters, April Vasquez and husband Abel, Tammy Sanders and husband Mike, and Mindy Thurman and husband John; brothers Allan Wilder and Larry Justice; sisters Kathryn Puckett, and Karen Whaley and husband Bob; grandchildren, Ritchie and Cyndi Wilder, Justice Wilder, Drue and Gina Wilder, Crystal, Garisson, and Alyanna Wilder, Becky Christiansen, Timothy Legate, Kathy Tullium, Nicky and Dayle Christiansen, Hannah and Bethel Vasquez, Danika, Makayla, Nicholas, and Jack Sanders, James and Clara Thurman.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday March 28th 2015 at 11 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Gordon Cox officiating.
