Gordon White

Monahans, Texas

Gordon Duane White, 76, a proud lifelong Texan, was born in Pittsburg, Texas, on

September 18, 1944, to parents, Thomas Gordon Richard White and Emma B. Thompson.

After a short illness, Gordon departed from this Earth on May 20, 2021, in Monahans, Texas, where he’d been a resident for over 40 years.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 24, 2021, from 9 a.m.-1p.m. at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, Texas.  Services will be held immediately after at 2 p.m. with graveside following at Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Brother Steve Vore of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Pallbearers are beloved family and friend: Richard White, Stephen White, Zackary White, Jason French, Travis Pool, and Richard Benagas.

As a young man, Gordon proudly served his country by joining the United States Air Force in  1965. He remained dutiful until his departure almost 4 years later, in 1969.

During this time, where he was trained as an administrative specialist, he served as an inventory clerk. Gordon received recognition of his merit by receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.  He was well reviewed by both peers and commanding officers alike.

He explored the United States as a truck driver.  His work took him on many adventures, and he enjoyed sharing the stories of his feats of driving in places like New York City.  The last several years of his life, he enjoyed his beloved dogs and other pets.

Gordon married the love of his life, Alice Faye Lester, on September 3,1977. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2013. He is also  preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Jessie Lee Stuard, Lennie Peacock, Helen Clements, Gladys Twyford, Margaret Harlow, Geraldine White,  and Shirley French, and his brothers: Isaac White, Willard White, Don White, Lonnie White, and Thomas White.

He is survived by brothers, Billy White (Betty) and Orville Lee White (Eva), all of Odessa, Texas, a son, Basil White of Tucson, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
