Grace Collins Greenwood, 81, of Monahans went to meet Jesus on August 27, 2018. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at her home church, Immanuel Baptist in Thorntonville.
Grace was born on July 13, 1937, in Big Spring, Texas. She was the daughter of Agnes and Harry Collins. She married Danny Greenwood August 7, 1976, in Big Spring. Grace attended Monahans schools and went to nursing school at Sul Ross State University. Grace enjoyed a long and successful nursing career in several locations, however, the career she enjoyed the most was her 23 years at the West Texas State School. She also worked for many years at Monahans Managed Care Center. Grace loved family and considered her friends as family. Grace enjoyed being a wife, Sunday school teacher, pet rescuer and gardener. Her pets were her babies.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Harry Collins; three brothers, Harry Collins, W.C. "Abe" Collins, and Dennis M. Collins; two sisters, Edna Lee and Francis Collins Mincey. She is survived by her husband, Danny Greenwood of Monahans, a sister, Josephine Reynolds and her husband, Melvin, of Gilmer, Texas; nieces and nephews Charles (Mary) Collins, Eddie (Norma) Collins, Teresa (David) Stoner, of Monahans; Dennis (Sue) Collins of Georgetown; Frank (Jackie) Collins of Abilene; Michael (Carla) Collins of Athens; Cary (Adan) Acosta of Fort Stockton; Luke Collins of Leakey; Evelyn (Billy) Gilson of Ropesville; Cindy (Ray) Compton of Garland; Kathy (Glen) Reynolds and Mel (Chris) Reynolds of Longview; Dennis (Lettia) Collins and Melissa (Johnny) Midkiff of Midland; and Stacy (Martin) Garcia of Wink; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
