Harold Ferguson

Harold Eugene Ferguson born September 13, 1930 to Charlie Nathaniel Ferguson and Inez Enola "Wilson" Ferguson, passed away on November 7, 2016.

Harold enlisted in the Navy August 1950 and served in Korean War as a gunner's mate aboard the destroyer DD 884 Floyd B Parks. He was honorably discharged in June 1954. Upon returning to civilian life he worked in the west Texas oilfields as well as service hand, truck driver, field foreman for pulling units, and the transferred to west Virginia managing a trucking and tank rental company. After the sale of that company Harold and his family returned to west Texas settling in Monahans, where he was field foreman for P&N Trucking Co. for ten years. At that time, he started his own company from 1978 until he retired in 2006.

Harold was a dedicated worker and his motto was "the customer always came first". He loved his work and loved working with people and the freedom of being out of doors and doing like he wished it to be done.

He belonged to several organizations such as being the president of local Moose Lodge Organization, as well as past District president. He was a member of the Lions Club where he held offices by coming up through the ranks, as well as being inducted to the Masonic Lodge in Wink, Texas, later being transferred to Monahans Lodge. Harold served as mayor of Wickett for 22 years till time of rest.
Besides his work and his family, his one true love in life was music. He would get up out of bed in the morning singing. He was a self-taught musician and always said he wasn't that good but put his heart and soul into every note, he loved music that much.

Harold is survived by his wife Carol, daughters Sandra Ferguson of Independence, MO, Cindy and Larry Fine of Monahans, TX, Linda and Phil Carter of Dublin, GA, step-sons David and Daniel Wilcox of San Angelo, TX, step-daughters Wanda and Scott Snoozy of Twin Brooks, SD and RoseMarie and Jeff Schneckenbery of Watertown, SD, grandsons, Brandon Delao, Gus Inskeep, and Shane Carter. Harold was and is the love of my life, I, and our whole family will forever miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Wickett, Texas, after will be the burial at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Harkey Funeral Home. Pall Bearers will be Gus Ferguson Inskeep, Brandon Delao, David Wilcox, Shane Carter, Phil Carter, Larry Fine.
