Enriqueta Ortiz Davila was born July 13, 1930 in Colorado City, Texas, and died in Monahans, Texas at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jose Martinez Davila. She has 11 children, Alicia Johnston of San Antonio, Texas and her husband, Lee, Carlos Oyerbides of Lubbock, Texas and his wife, Estella, Judy Ortiz of San Antonio, Texas and her husband, Jesse, Joe Davila of Greenwood, Texas and his wife, Johnna, Jessie Myers of Scott City, Kansas and her husband, George, Wanda Warner of Gaylord, Michigan and her husband, Bill, James Davila of Honolulu, Hawaii, and his partner, Radford, Josie McAnally of Monahans, Texas, Julia Palma of Odessa, Texas and her husband, Ruben, Bonnie Chavez of Lubbock, Texas and her husband, Charles, and Bessie Whitling of Wylie, Texas and her husband, Jack. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Queta, as she was well known to many, was a woman after God's own heart. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she served as a Cursillista as well as a member of the Sacred Heart Society, Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister, and a member of the church choir. She along with her husband traveled many years in the work of evangelization in and around the West Texas and New Mexico area. Throughout the years she served many meals as part of the Bereavement Ministry and evangelization conferences. She began prayer groups and hosted bible studies in her home. Queta opened her home as a place for the missionary nuns and priests.
Queta is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin, and Manuela Ortiz, and three brothers, Braulio Garcia, Domingo Garcia, and Manuel Ortiz, and her sister, Elbira Olibas.
