Herman Gonzales

Herman Mendoza Gonzales, age 89, of Monahans passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Ward Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 28, 1925 in Coahoma to Felipe and Dolores (Mendoza) Gonzales. He was a member of the United States Army where he served in World War II. He earned the Purple Heart during his services as well. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church choir in Kermit for many years. He was also a member of the VFW in Kermit.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.

Survivors include his son, Domingo Gonzales and wife Diana of San Angelo; 4 daughters, Teodora Acosta and husband Pablo of Monahans, Cypriana Benevidez and husband Andy of Monahans, Gloria Hernandez and husband Rudy of Monahans, and Roselia Peacock and husband George of Burleson; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Trinidad Bonilla; his second wife, Fransica Escontrias; his parents, Felipe and Dolores Gonazales; brothers, Romalo, Gabriel, Ascencion, Feliciano, Angel, Francisco, and Casimiro Gonzales; a sister, Nazaria Castillo.
