Jesus Garcia

Jesus Granado Garcia, 80, of Monahans, Texas passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at his home. He was born January 19, 1940, in Study Butte, Texas to Matilde and Theadora Garcia. After graduating high school in Marathon, he started his career in the trucking industry. He married his wife, Berta, in Alpine, Texas, on March 14, 1963.

He worked for Southwest Marketers for many years and then he continued his career with Fina. He was always dedicated to his family and his work. He enjoyed spending time outside and keeping up with his grandchildren’s activities. In his younger years, he loved to dance with Berta and spend time with his friends. He was a man who answered to many names including Dad, Grandpa, Aha, Chuy, and Jesse.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Berta, their two daughters, Sue Lynn Garcia, of Monahans; Lisa and Martin Gonzales of Monahans; Jennifer and Cody Jimenez of Monahans; and Paige and Garret Neighbors of Midland. Surviving grandchildren include Matthew and Adrian Gonzales of Odessa; Brody and Brazos Jimenez of Monahans; and Pearl Neighbors of Midland. He is also survived by his brother Porfiro and Lorenza Garcia of Monahans; and family friends Rusty and Jane Shaw.

Jesus is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Jesse Garcia, and sisters, Sara, Dominga, Cruz, and Francisca. Others mourning his loss include many other relatives and family friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the Harkey Family Funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Rosary will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at St. John’s Catholic Church at 4:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at St. John’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Monahans Cemetery.
