Joe Earl Hodges, a beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024 in Midland, TX at the age of 86. Born on December 31, 1937 in Overton, TX. 

Joe was a skilled electrician in the oilfield industry working for Marathon Oil Company for 35 years upon his retirement. After retirement, he picked up his expertise skills in craftmanship and started his woodworking business. His creativity and love for working with his hands touched the lives of many leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of receiving one of his masterpieces. Joe was a proud Navy veteran and committed to an unwavering pride for his country. He continued that pride by teaching other young men through his enthusiasm of the scouting profession where he received his Eagle Scout Award and achieving Commissioner status. 

Joe is preceded in death by his Parents; D.D. Hodges, Myrtle Williams and Adell Grissom, 4 sisters and 1 grandson. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Karen Hodges, Daughters Teresa Burnett (Johnny) Monahans, Kelly Vernon (Scott) Perryton and Amy Kaiser (Glenn) Ruidoso, NM. Son Joe Scott Hodges (Dana) Lubbock. Brother, Steve Hodges (Mary) Dallas, 10 Grand Children, 18 Great Grand Children, 1 Great Great Grand Child and numerous Nieces and Nephews along with community friends and ones who loved him deeply. 

A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Harkey Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans, TX officiated by Jeppie Wilson.

 Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: J.W. Burnett, Clay Hodges, Chase Vernon, Ty Vernon, Gentry Cauhape, Dakota Corbell, David Hodges, Eric Kaiser, Wesley Barley, Chris Williams, Matthew Bolin, Thomas Bolin and Jace Hodges.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers to please make donations to Monahans Kidzone and the Ward County Community Endowment.
