John Wayne Cranfill, 77, died at his home in Monahans, TX on August 6, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 22, 1939 in Barstow, TX to Murrah and Louise Cranfill. He lived and worked in and around the West, TX area during his lifetime as a weight truck operator, mechanic, teacher and business owner. His hobbies included archery, fishing, hunting arrowheads and later in life golf.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Cranfill of Monahans; his daughter Karen Chowning and her husband Michael Chowning of Monahans; three grandchildren, Megan Toney and spouse Brian, Bryan Chowning and spouse Chelsie, and Lyndsay Bates and spouse Matthew, as well as his mother Louise McGinty Cranfill of Barstow TX and eight great grandchildren JJ Toney, Amber Gutierrez, Jonna Toney, Zack Toney, Zailey Toney, Harper Bates, Dominik Chowning, and Kailey Bates.
He is preceded in death by his father Murrah Cranfill, his sister Murriel Shaw, and his son Scott Cranfill.
