Jose Ramirez

Jose S. Ramirez, 80, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in Harker Heights, TX. He was born January 6, 1935 in Monterrey, Mexico to Fernando and Antonia (Samaniego) Ramirez.

On January 27, 1970, he married Aricela (Chela) Meraz. She survives.

He worked as a truck driver and roustabout, pulling unit operator, TSI truckdriver, J&C Well Services, and owned Ramirez Restaurant in Monahans for many years.

He enjoyed singing and was a dedicated family man.

He is preceded in death by his son, Agustine Ramirez; daughter, Gloria Ramirez; parents, Fernando and Antonio Ramirez; and step-father, Margarito Sotelo.

Jose is survived by his wife, Chela Ramirez of Odessa; sons, Jose Jr. of Harker Heights, Fernando of Oklahoma, Rogelio of San Angelo, Alfredo of Dallas, and Antonio of Harker Heights; daughters, Ermelinda of Harker Heights, Jesusita of Killeen, Ana Marie of Harker Heights, Silvia of Midland, Rosario of Oklahoma, Liza of Harker Heights, and Patricia of Killeen; sister, Aurora S. Felan of Monahans; and 46 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, September 4, 2015 from 11 AM - 9 PM at Harkey Funeral Home, with the Rosary being recited at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11 AM at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. James Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
