Joe Borrego passed away on October 29, 2022 in Austin, Tx. Joe was born on March 17, 1938 to Jesus and San Juana Borrego. After growing up in Sanderson, Tx, Joe married the love of his life, Fidela Gonzales on January 3, 1960 and had 62 blissful years of marriage. They lived in Sanderson, Tx and El Paso, Tx for several years before residing in Monahans, Tx until his death.
Joe worked for Mobil Oil Company for over 25 years before his retirement. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family. He was a very loving and friendly person who never met a stranger. Every person to him was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. Joe enjoyed working on cars, fixing things around the house and loved to tinker in his workshop. Every year, he loved taking “mi honey” to Las Vegas for a shot to win lots of money. Joe was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. Later in life, he loved to play his favorite games Mahjong and Solitaire on his computer. We will remember his love, kindness, generosity and goodness and he will be greatly missed by so many.
Joe was preceded in death by parents, Jesus and San Juana Borrego; brothers, Felix Valles and Pablo Valles; sisters, Mabel Rubalcava, Santa Maldonado, San Juana Villarreal and Amalia Escamilla.
Joe is survived by his wife, Fidela Borrego; daughter Debra Borrego (Martin Moody) and son Joey Borrego; sister Amelia Escamilla and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Valles, David Escamilla, Patrick Escamilla, Jerry Escamilla, Martin Moody and Alfredo Gomez “Freddie”.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Seton Southwest Medical Center of Austin and Hospice for their care and compassion during the family’s time of need.
