Thursday, December 16, 2021 our precious Momma Jo, Josephine Kinsey Smith entered into heaven’s gates. Momma Jo was born in Bellevue, Texas to Robert Wesley and Mary Francis Kinsey on April 25th, 1942. After graduating high school from Antelope, Texas she fell in love with Richard Allen Smith and they were married September 15, 1961. In their sixty years together, they enjoyed the chaos and blessings of eight children, 28 grandchildren, over 40 great grandchildren, along with a host of so many adopted family members who have been welcomed into their hearts and home each year. Josephine was a devoted volunteer of the Ward County Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She loved reading, watching movies and traveling. She loved her family and loved to have everyone home for any reason. She loved hosting TXU and Hospital Christmas parties.
Momma Jo is survived by her loving husband, her children Sabra Smith, Julie and Freddie Ramos, Allen and Beverly Smith, Pam and Greg Rogers, Jeff and Ginger Smith, Mary and Bruce Nall, Heather and Larry Collins and Justin Smith, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Doug Kinsey, Ronnie Kinsey, Mike Kinsey and Pete Kinsey, sister Lucille Raley, her daughter Christie Weddle, grandson Arnold Nall, and great grandchildren Skyla James and Raxton Jones.
Visitation for Momma Jo will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, Texas. A rosary will be held on December 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ward Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Pallbearers for the service will be Ali Davis, Alfonso Vasquez, Ryan Jones, Wade Rogers, Jay Smith, David Nall, Kristyn Smith, and Kinsey Santillana.
