Kenneth Ray Swarb 86, passed from this life on Saturday, October 23, 2021, in Monahans, Texas.
Ken was born on December 3, 1934, in Harjo, Oklahoma to Luther Simon Asbury Swarb and Mamie Gertrude Swarb.
He spent his boyhood days in rural Oklahoma.
He attended school at Harjo and graduated in 1953. After high school Kenneth was able to secure a job with Warren Petroleum Company, where he spent 31 years at Harjo and Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Monahans, Texas and Eunice, New Mexico. Kenneth spent most of his years as an engine and compressor mechanic and as a supervisor in his later years with Warren Petroleum.
Kenneth met and married the love of his life: Laverne Palmer Swarb in 1953. Both were accomplished basketball players but attended different schools only 7 miles apart. They had been married almost 65 years when Laverne passed in March 2019.
In the Spring of 1964, due to a job transfer, Kenneth, Laverne and their three young sons moved to Monahans.
Kenneth loved flying and working on his and others' airplanes. He also was a certified flight instructor and taught many students to fly while living in Monahans. Kenneth lived in Monahans for over 50 years, with a 5 year stop in Eunice, New Mexico. Ken and Laverne moved back to Monahans in 1982 where they started Mechanical Maintenance Inc., a contract mechanic company. Mechanical Maintenance Inc. was an ongoing business for 28 years, when Ken retired in 2010.
Ken and Laverne were members of the First Baptist church, where Ken was a deacon for close to 50 years. They both loved attending all the grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities from football, volleyball, basketball and baseball games, to band contests and dance recitals.
Kenneth Swarb was preceded in death by his wife Laverne Palmer Swarb, his parents Luther Swarb & Gertie Swarb, brothers Eston Swarb and Waymon Swarb both of Oklahoma and grandson Nathan Swarb. Kenneth Swarb is survived by sons Steve Swarb and wife Jennifer, Dennis Swarb and wife Tina, and Warren Swarb and wife Wendy.
Grandchildren: Joshua Swarb (Anslee), Candace Barnett (Bandi), Amanda Pitts (Nathan), Micah Swarb (Christi), Cameron Swarb (Lindsie), Cragar Swarb (Kaylee).
Great grandchildren: Nathan, Karlee, Bradley, & Brayden Swarb; Baze & Anson Barnett; Kirby & Carson Pitts; Nikolai & Tahlia Swarb; Kartyr & Kallaway Swarb. Ken is also survived by brother Harold Swarb and wife Lavonna of Maud, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
