Larry Joe Fine, age 69, of Monahans, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Midland, TX. Larry was born in Monahans September 28, 1948 the son of Billy and Barbara Fine. Larry attended elementary and middle school in both Grandfalls and Monahans, and graduated from Monahans High School in 1967. He went to work for Mobil Oil after high school graduation. He continued his career in the oilfield and eventually retired from Energy Transfer in 2013. Larry was an avid fisherman and served as President of both the Permian Bass Club and the Kermit Bass Club. He taught each of his girls and all of his grandchildren how to "wet a hook" and "tell a good fish story". Many memories were made and lessons taught with Poppy on the lake. He also enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends on the golf course, and always had a witty comment to offer others. Throughout his life Larry served as President of the Ward County Livestock Show and the 4-H Adult Leaders Association. He was active in the Ward County 4-H Program both as a child and an adult and became a mentor to not only his daughters but the youth of Ward County. Larry lived a full, happy life and enjoyed nothing more than being with his family. Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Fine; his father, Billy Fine; his step mother Dorine Fine; his grandmother Ruth McBride; and by his grandparents, Ira and Lola Fine. Larry is survived by his wife, Cyndi Fine of Monahans; daughters Christi McCoy and husband Clint of Midland and Cammie Bounds of Breckenridge; stepson Brandon DeLaO and Megan of Midland; stepson Gus Ferguson of San Angelo; two brothers, Gary Fine of Wimberley; and Steven and wife Elaine Fine of Monahans; and one sister, Sharon Pugh of Odessa; Thirteen grandchildren, Stetson McCoy, Boo McCoy, Mackenzie McCoy, Jaxon McCoy, McKia McCoy, Kenna McCoy, Meckie McCoy, Elijah McCoy, Hannah Bounds, Kaiden Bounds and Gentry Bounds, Braeson and Evan DeLaO; and one great-grandchild, Bentley McCoy; numerous nieces and nephews; and his much loved companion, Willow. Pallbearers will be Clint McCoy, Stetson McCoy, Boo McCoy, Jaxon McCoy, Bobby Long and Gus Ferguson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Meckie McCoy, Elijah McCoy and Kaiden Bounds. Visitation time will be at 12:00pm Monday, January 1 at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans. Funeral will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, January 2 with Gary Fine of Wimberley and Josh Reiff , Minister at Southside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Diabetes Foundation, or the preferred charity of your choice.
