LaTresa Aracely Powers, 18 of Monahans, Texas, passed away on 10-23-2021. LaTresa was born in Houston, Texas to Travis Powers and TalyaRose Plilar on 03-18-2003. She graduated from Monahans High School in 2021 where she was a Regional Qualifier in Swimming, a powerlifter, and a member of the Track Team. She was attending Midland College to continue her education and complete her nursing degree. She was also part of the Youth group at First Baptist Church Monahans and member of Crossroads and Southside Baptist church. She spent much of her free time completing missionary work with World Changers and other various charities.
She is survived by her mother Talya Rose Plilar, and sister Brenda Draen Powers of Houston, Texas; her father Travis Blake Powers and mother Tonya Powers of Monahans, Texas; sisters: Brittani Powers and Faith Yeargan and brothers: Blake Powers and Christian Yeargan, her grandfathers James Plilar of Houston, Texas and Raymond Lavoyd Powers of Bandera, Texas along with and James and Sharon Blasengame of McAllister, OK as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Brenda “Sassy” Plilar, and LaTresa Powers Boatman, and her Great grandparents, Raymond and Mary Powers of Monahans, TX.
Pallbearers will be: Chase Gaddis, Chance Gaddis, Kenneth Ramsey, standing in for John Haas is Tony Calvo, Mark Moore, Ben Bryant, Christian Yeargan, Paton Jewitt, Aidan Valdez, Caleb Harding, Ty Dagenault and Coach Jay Thomas.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 9am to 8pm and the family will be present from 6pm to 8 pm at Harkey Funeral Home, Monahans, Texas. The funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10 am at Southside Baptist Church at 1402 S. Main St. Monahans, Texas officiated by Joshua Rieff with burial at Monahans Memorial Cemetery; 400 S Helen Ave after service ends.
