Lisa Cerna

Lisa Ann Cerna, 54, of Monahans, Tx, passed from this life on March 21, 2019, surrounded by her family.

Rosary will be recited at St John Catholic Church on Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Mass will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at St John Catholic Church with burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Lisa was born to Alfredo and Luisa on January 20, 1965. She graduated from Monahans High School in 1983, and currently worked at Lathan Walker Junior High where she had been an employee for 11 years.

Lisa is survived by her parents Alfredo and Luisa Pena and her brother Mario Pena as well as her three children: Brandi Juarez and husband Javier Juarez; Breann Cerna; Isaiah Rayos and his wife Dorothy Rayos. Also left to cherish her memory are her six precious grandchildren: Jeniah, Avian, Paitlyn, Paizley, Paige, and Presley. Lisa is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lisa was predeceased by her grandparents Andres and Jesusita Pena and Domingo and Eulalia Vasquez.

Lisa was a Catholic Christian and member of St. John's The Apostle Catholic Church.

Ms. Cerna wore many hats and she was immensely proud of her family and loved being daughter, mom and grandma to a crew who kept her young and on the go. She also enjoyed working in different capacities for her Lobo family. She was a clock-keeper for many athletic events as well as an encourager to athletes in any sport. But Lisa really lit up on Friday nights when her home town football team played. LWJH will never be the same with Lisa's absence but her dry sense-of-humor and love of students will remain in the halls of the Jr. High. The Golden Girls in the office of LWJH will miss their "Sophia" but her spirit will continue to guide. Lisa had a gifted ability in getting through to students in a special way when no one else could.

Lisa's life was a colorful quilt, stitched together in green with bravery, wit, strength, love, laughter, and smiles.

Serving as Pallbearers will be; Rene Vasquez, Tony Vasquez, Marco Juarez, Zachary Juarez, Derek Sanchez, Ruben Rodriguez, Chris Samaniego, Brian Cooper.
