Louise Calley McGrew, 98, of Grandfalls, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in Odessa, Texas.
Louise was born in Cherokee County, Texas to Clive Calley and Cora Elliot Calley on January 5, 1922.
Louise was a wife, mother and bookkeeper for her husband Jack. She was a lifetime member of the order of the Eastern Star and member of Toastmasters. She was very involved with her boys, their boy scouts as a leader, a Sunday school teacher at the Union Church of Grandfalls, Texas where she made lifelong impressions on many Grandfalls youth.
Louise never saw a “junk” pile she couldn’t pass up and brought home as much as she could possibly load in her car. Even bringing home a pack rat who proceeded to tear out the headliner in her car. Even though Jack was furious it didn’t quell her attraction to “stuff”, but she always found a purpose or project that it would work in. She also loved wildflowers and cacti with arrangements and root cuttings in anything that would hold water. (In later years some of those cuttings were artificial!) Port Aransas called her name and she loved spending time on the beach gathering pockets full of shells and planning her next visit. A friend once said she had the seat of her car attached!
Louise is preceded in death by by 2 grandchildren Lon and Janett McGrew.
Louise is survived by her sons John L. McGrew and wife Caroline, Billy C “Bitsy” McGrew and wife Teresa. Grandchildren Brad McGrew and wife Terri, Shane McGrew and wife DeeDee, Melea McGrew Wade and husband Scotty, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
