Lucy Gonzales

Lucy Sanchez Gonzales, 69, a lifelong resident of Monahans, Texas fell asleep in death in Odessa, Texas on April 8th, 2021.

Lucy was the second child born to Ferdinand Sanchez Sr. and Feliciana Sanchez on December 23rd, 1951 in Monahans, Texas. She was one of 9 children.

Lucy married Luis Angel Gonzales on November 15th, 1974 in Monahans, Texas where they made their home and raised their family.

Lucy is survived by her husband Luis Angel Gonzales, children Monica Zamarron (Jorge), Jose N, Vasquez, Cecilia Cook, Renee Madrid (Isaac), Helen Peshlakai (Michael), Angel Gonzales (Trampas Gray), Anthony Vasquez, Graciela Levario, Eduard Munoz, and Jazzil Munoz, sisters Joyce Heredia (Ruben), Norma Heredia Paz, Sharon Perez (Eduardo), Roy Sanchez, and Felicia Sanchez, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Lucy prided herself on being a housewife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed staying home and having her family visit with everyone gathered around the table having meals, laughing, and sharing stories. She always welcomed everyone to make themselves at home.

Lucy was a compassionate and loving person; in her earlier years she did volunteering for meals on wheels. She loved helping people, always having her door open to people who needed help; from a family member trying to start new, to strangers who had hit hard times.

Lucy loved the simple things in life, like waking early to have coffee and hearing her birds singing as well as the company of her little dog Minnie as she watched her novellas and westerns. She enjoyed keeping in touch and catching up with longtime friends and family in long phone conversations.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Ferdinand and Feliciana Armenta Sanchez, Grandson Orlando Ray Garcia, sister Suzanne Martinez, brothers Leroy and Fernando Sanchez.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24th, 2021 at Harkey Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans, Texas.
