Eagerly waited for the boy to get here.
When he arrived, everyone gave a loud cheer.
We wondered what color his eyes would be.
His light sandy hair was not easy to see.
From the beginning he was a good eater.
His disposition could not have been sweeter.
His Mother’s loving voice could summon that smile.
His laughter and cackles were heard for a mile.
He was happy and healthy for most days shared.
Parents, siblings, and family deeply cared.
When he was held in our arms he stole our heart.
Making memories had just begun to start.
Chubby hands squeeze a tight hold on our fingers.
Head rested gently and snuggled a shoulder.
Bright blue shining eyes that could light up the room.
Little did we know that you would leave so soon.
You adored your two sisters at every glance.
Your Father’s arrival home, made your legs dance.
Your Mother and Father are your greatest love.
Your destiny was planned by the Lord above.
Blessings for shared time together given.
Luke’s soul will soar to be with God in heaven.
The little west Texas cowboy hung the moon.
Family and friends will see you again soon.
-Ode To My West TX Cowboy Grandson Luke by Phillip Twaddle (Papa Phil)
Our sweet blue eyed baby boy, Luke Russell Brandenburg was born on April 16, 2024, in Odessa, Texas. He was a happy baby that brought so much joy to our family. His two sisters adored every move he made and enjoyed loving him. On October 28, 2024, our precious baby Luke went to heaven. We find comfort knowing he is smiling in the arms of Jesus. As an organ donor, Luke was able to help other babies and bring light to those families’ lives.
Luke is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Janie Brandenburg, Barbara Demicell, Donal and Rosemary Myer, William and Jeanne Twaddle. Luke is survived by his parents, Russell and Rose Brandenburg; his sisters, Betty and Lucy Brandenburg; his grandparents, Randy and Laura Brandenburg, and Phillip and Nancy Twaddle; his great-grandfathers, Ronald Brandenburg and Albert Demicell Jr.; his aunts and uncles; Joe and Natalia Brandenburg, John and Amanda Nelson, and Lydia Twaddle and Travis Polifka; his cousin, Nathan Brandenburg and many more who loved him.
To honor Luke's memory, a celebration of life was held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Monahans Community Church, allowing family and friends to gather and celebrate the joyous moments they shared with Luke. The service was officiated by Larry Jasso.
Luke’s life was far too short for those who loved him here on earth. We will cherish memories of his adorable smile, silly giggle, and sweet cuddles. While he is no longer in our arms, we will love and miss him for the rest of our days until we are one day reunited with him in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for you to donate to www.donatelifetexas.org or to the Ward County Memorial Hospital in honor of Luke.
