Manuel Ortiz

Manuel Ortiz, 87, of Monahans, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Monahans Managed Care Center. He was born July 13, 1928 in Barstow, TX to Benjamin and Manuela (Oyerbidez) Ortiz.

He worked for 45 years as a mechanic. A #1 Monahans Lobo fan, he served as a bus mechanic for Lobo buses. He was a preacher for 50 years for the Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margarita Leos Ortiz; and parents, Benjamin and Manuela Ortiz.

Manuel is survived by his sons, Joe Ortiz and Joel Ortiz and wife Irma; daughter, Nora Littlejohn and husband Kenneth; sister, Henriquetta Davila; 7 grandchildren, Michael Joel Ortiz, Monica Elena Ortiz, Ismael Ortiz Franco, Norma Ortiz Rodriguez, Kristin D'Ann Littlejohn, David Lee Ortiz, and Lori Leigh Cantrell; 3 great grandchildren, Ernest Aurelio Rodriguez, Stacie Alexis Rodriguez, and Justin Ismael Franco; and 3 great-great grandchildren, Ernest Aurelio Rodriguez III, Austin Cantrell, and Jason Cantrell.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 5 - 8 PM and Monday, October 19, 2015 from 9 AM - 8 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 2 PM at 3rd and Dwight Church of Christ with Billy Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
