Mario Rios, of Monahans, passed away on December 18, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Mario was born in Pecos, Texas to Alvaro and Rosa Rios on March 18, 1958. Mario graduated from Monahans High School and married Virginia Muniz on April 14, 1977. He was employed for 20 years by Zenith Well Services until 1998. He then attended Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater, Texas. After graduating he and Virginia moved to Carrollton, Texas where he was employed by ST Microelectronics. They then returned back home to Monahans where he was employed by citation oil and gas for 10 years. Mario and his brother-in-law Manuel Gonzales started up a DJ service in the 80’s and were called M&M. In 1990 Mario went on his own with the DJ service where he was known as M&M Posse. The Posse included Robert Venegas, Marcus Millah, Michael Molina, Manny Ontiveroz, Roy Garcia, Joey Muniz, Daniel Calderon, Robert Lopez, Eddie Huertas, and Louie Juarez. Mario’s passion was music and loved to see everyone on the dance floor having a good time. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and the Monahans Loboes. He attended St. John’s Catholic Church where he was in the Parish Council and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mario loved his family with all his heart. Mario’s two eyes were his daughters Marisa and Kisa.
Mario is preceded in death by his parents Alvaro “Al” and Rosa Rios, father-in-law Albert “Tito” Muniz, brother-in-law Thomas Terrazas and nephew Robert Venegas.
Mario is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Virginia Rios, daughters Marisa and husband Aden Sanchez, Kisa and husband David Rodriguez, brother Alvaro “Jr” Rios, sisters Elma Terrazas and Irma Rios, mother-in-law Alice Muniz, granddaughters Aaliyah and Aryssa Sanchez, grandsons AJ and wife Andrea Sanchez, Diego and David “Bubba” Rodriguez, Jazlyn and Delaney Rodriguez, great granddaughters Jocelynn and Elle Sanchez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service will be Joey Muniz, Roy Garcia, Manny Ontiveroz, Michael Molina, Derik Morales, and Devin Klem.
