Mary Belle Harris

Mary Belle Harris, 90, left this earth for her final resting place in Heaven on April 10, 2025. Born to Geo and Beatrice (Ginether) Curtis on October 13, 1934, in Bellmont, Illinois.

Mary worked for many years in the meat market and deli at Mitchell’s Thriftimart in Monahans, then retired to become a part-time nanny. She loved to read, so she would go to the library every week to get 3 mystery/romance novels to read for the week, then she would go see Betty, her beautician; she called this day “the get beautiful day.” Every Saturday, you could find her at the mall, not really to buy but to enjoy meeting new people and eating at Furr’s Cafeteria. She married the love of her life, the late Clifton Ray Harris, on January 14, 1954, and they spent 68 wonderful years together. They spent half of the time here in Monahans and the other half on their farm in Mount Carmel, Illinois, where they loved to go to the fairs, flea markets, or chowders every weekend.

Mary is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary Harris of Monahans, Stephen and wife, Doris Harris of Monahans; 1 sister, Betty Brewer of Mount Carmel, Illinois; 2 grandsons, Aron Harris of Seattle, Washington, Cody and wife, April (Franco) Harris of San Angelo; 2 granddaughters, Kimberly and husband, Andrew Douglas of Pembroke, Ontario Canada; 6 great grandchildren, Lance Corporal Bradley Harris of 29 Palms Marine Corp, 29 Palms, California, Scott Harris of San Angelo, Kaylee Harris of San Angelo, Steven Douglas of Pembroke, Ontario, Canada.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Ray Harris; 1 son, Mike Harris; 1 brother-in-law; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters-in-law; Fred Brewer; Bob and Mammie Curtis; Harry and Jan Curtis, and her parents, Geo and Beatrice (Ginether) Curtis.

Pallbearers include Stephen Harris, Cody Harris, Bradley Harris, Scott Harris, Kevin Todd and Marc Widdess.
