Mary Lou Cherry, 85 of Monahans, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Focus Care of Crane, Crane, TX.
Family gathering will be Tuesday from 5 pm to 8 pm at Harkey Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 10 am Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at he First Baptist Church of Monahans. Dr. Chris Powel will officiate and burial will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Mary Lou was born in Douglas, Arizona to the late Harry and Thelma Lee Winford, May 18, 1933.

Mary Lou attended school in Welch, TX and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1951. She graduated from beautician school in Lubbock in 1952. She worked in Lamesa and married Joe Cherry on March 5, 1955. Mary Lou worked as a beautician in Odessa, TX., Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Enid, OK. and Monahans, TX. Mary Lou painted still life pictures, created ceramics and did calligraphy. She loved people and especially children. Mary Lou taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church where she was a member for 46 years.

She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2010 and resided at Focus Care of Crane the last 4 years and 5 months.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Estelle Hancock and Laverne Hensler.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Cherry, sons: Joel Cherry and wife Alice, Alan Cherry and wife Mary Lou, brothers; Kenneth Winford and wife Betty, Jimmy Winford and wife Sue, Richard Winford and wife Vicky, sisters; Ann Tutle and Sandra Parrot, grandchildren; Jamie, Lauren, Christopher and Michael Cherry, great-grandchildren; Brock Cherry, Kiersten Zyla, Amarees Villapando and Addyson Cherry, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Serving as casket bearers will be; Bobby Jarrett, Mickey Mitchel, Chris Cherry, Don Shelton, Kelvin Jones and Harvey Acker. Honorary casket bearer will be Michael Cherry.
In Lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of one's choice.
