Mary Jernigan was born one of four daughters on June 26, 1933 to James L. and Ella Mae (Gates) Brumley in Paris, Texas. She wed the love of her life, Emmett Jernigan, on February 9, 1951, in Monahans, Texas. They spent 58 happy years together and had three children. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett, sister Joy Farnam, and great-grandson Cy Emmett Crump. She is survived by her children Mike Jernigan and wife Mary Jo of Iraan, Texas, Rhonda Hogan and husband Bob of San Antonio, Texas, Jay Jernigan and wife Anita of Monahans, Texas; her grandchildren Regan Crump and husband David of Crosbyton, Texas, Landry McNeese and husband Garrett of Crane, Texas, Shannon Lumbatis and husband Matthew of Atascocita, Texas, Neil Hogan and wife Amy of San Antonio, Texas, Jordan Soliz and husband Brandon of Robert Lee, Texas, and Jenna Jernigan of Creede, Colorado, as well as great-grandchildren Carter, Cole and Creed Crump, Berkley and Tenley McNeese, Emmalin Soliz, and Nathaniel Lumbatis; her sisters Norma Weaver and Sue McCown and husband Steve, and sister-in-law Annita Koke, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017, at the age of 84. Granny, you are greatly loved and will be missed but never forgotten.
Her family would like to thank her many caregivers at Colonial Gardens Memory Care Center and Autumn Wind Living and Rehabilitation Center in the San Antonio area where she spent her final days.
