Melba Grigry

Melba June Grigry, 69, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 21.
She was born in Odessa, on January 7, 1949 to Bud and June Carothers.
Melba attended school in Crane up until high school, where she then completed her education at Monahans High School, graduating in 1967.
After graduation, Melba met the love of her life, Leon Grigry. They were married on July 27, 1968.
On July 28, 2018 the couple, along with the three youngest Grigry siblings, all celebrated their 50th wedding anniversaries surrounded by family and friends.
At the celebration, Melba was remembered as saying, "We've definitely had our ups and downs, but we've always been there for each other when we needed one another."
Melba was an office manager for many years and a housewife. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Monahans. Melba was very loving and outgoing. She loved everyone she met and never met a stranger. She really loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When not with family or friends, Melba enjoyed tending to her garden.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Leon; one sister, Yvonne (John) Neel of San Angelo one son, Ben Grigry (Synthia) of Monahans; four grandchildren, Tyler Grigry of Casper WY, Sarah Grigry of Midland, Emily and Grace Grigry of Monahans; and three great-grandchildren, Otto Grigry, Macy Grigry of Midland and Benjamin Grigry, of Casper WY.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Carothers and one sister, Diane Smith.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Harkey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church in Monahans with Pastor Joshua Rieff and Music Minister Barry Calahan.
Burial followed at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
