Micaela Franco, 78 years young, a beloved soul adorned with grace and kindness, peacefully departed from this world on March 10, 2024, in her hometown of Monahans, Texas. Born on September 29, 1945, to Felisiano and Josefa Gonzalez, Micaela touched the lives of many through her various roles and profound love for her family.
A dedicated professional who served at Dr. Timmons office, at Ward Memorial Hospital and later retired from Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD, Micaela was known for her unwavering faith and devotion to the Lord, which guided her throughout her life. She found great joy in spending quality time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Attending all their activities and sharing in their interests brought immense happiness to Micaela's heart.
Moreover, Micaela will be fondly remembered for her unwavering support for the Lobo teams and for sharing her passion for crafts with her beloved grandchildren. Her famous banana pudding was not just a dessert but a symbol of the warmth and love she exuded effortlessly.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Micaela will be remembered for her kind spirit and generosity. She volunteered selflessly for various community initiatives including the Thanksgiving Community Meal, Community Clothes Drive, and Family Community Menudo Meal. Her dedication to helping those in need made a lasting impact on the community she held dear. She took great pride as a member of several church organizations at St. John’s Catholic Church: Sacred Heart Society, Cursillista, Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters of America, Church Choir, Religious formation Teacher for 63 years (started at the age of 15), Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Pilgrim Queen of the Family, and CYO-Catholic Youth Ministry Sponsor.
Micaela was preceded in death by her parents Felisiano and Josefa Gonzalez and brother Andres Gonzalez.
Micaela leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. She married the love of her life, Alfredo Franco, on November 12, 1966, and together they shared 57 years filled with love and beautiful memories. Micaela is survived by her loving husband, Alfredo Franco; daughters, Annette Franco, Denise Denman and husband, Dr. Jeremy Denman, Christine Gomez and husband, Ruben, Grace Mann and husband, Shawn; adopted daughter, Tracy Powell; grandchildren, Ruben Johnny Gomez, Patrick Gomez, Arianne Palmer (Bryne), Gabriella Franco, Jace Denman, Isabel Gomez, Alfredo Gomez, Shelbi Mann, Jaxon Denman, Abigail Acosta (Anthony); great-grandchildren Alina Bustamante, Alonso Lujan, Avery Acosta, Ellie Palmer, Abrian Acosta (Little Man), Jack Palmer, Aaron Acosta, Anthony Acosta Jr, Aiden Acosta; brothers, Daniel Gonzalez, and Sammy Gonzalez and wife, Jenny; sisters, Maria Elena Gonzalez, and Virginia Mancha and husband, Alfredo; along with numerous nephews, nieces, Godchildren, and extended family members also mourn her passing.
The services to honor Micaela Franco's life will be held at Harkey Funeral Home starting with a visitation on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM and on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and a Rosary at 7:00 PM at St. John’s Catholic Church. A Mass is scheduled for Friday, March15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are as follows: Johnny Gomez, Patrick Gomez, Chuy Terrazas, Jace Denman, Fred Gomez, and Jaxon Denman.
Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: Gabriella Franco, Isabel Gomez, Shelbi Mann, and Arianne Palmer.
