Nelda Helmers

Nelda Jean Helmers, 82, of Monahans, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2023, in Odessa, Texas.
She was born in Stonewall County to Howard Burton Williams and Mabel Clara Sherrod on February 7, 1941, and is preceded in death by her parents and her elder brother, Bill Williams.
Nelda is survived by her husband, Stanley Helmers of Monahans, Texas, her daughter, Shelly Welcher of Denver City, Texas, a sister, Dorothy Cranford and husband Del of Fritch, Texas, 3 grandchildren, Chris Welcher and wife Holly of Brownfield, Texas, Krista Welcher of Lubbock, Texas, Justin Rowan and wife Kara of Midland, Texas, and 3 great grandchildren, Kyle, Luke and Hallie.
Nelda was a loving wife and mother, kind to all, and generous to a fault.  Her greatest joy in life came from helping family, friends, and those in need.  She touched many lives and will be dearly missed by those she left behind.
Funeral services will be held in Monahans, Texas on March 22, 2023 at the Harkey Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. and on March 23, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Peacock, Texas at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow the second service at Double Mountain Cemetery.
