Nellie Salgado Jaquez was born September 22, 1951 in Grandfalls, Tx to Anatalio Jose Salgado and Natividad Salgado. Nellie went to Heaven on May 27, 2020.
She gave birth to her only child Carolina on August 15, 1973.
Nellie became a single mom worked as a cook at K-Bob's and at the local nursing home. She also worked for Anchor Foods in Pecos and for a time as a floor hand at Best Made Designs in Monahans.
She married Jimmy Jaquez in 2003 and he precedes her in death. While married to Jimmy, Nellie cared for the elderly as well as caring for Jimmy who had become ill following their marriage.
Nellie loved God and had tremendous faith in him. She was a Pentecostal and was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church in Monahans. She relied on her faith to strengthen her and to help her as she faced her own health crisis, beating cancer. Nellie was a very tough lady and faced every challenge in her life with dignity and poise. Unfortunately, the cancer came back and even though she fought it too with great dignity and poise, it proved to be a mighty adversary. Nellie passed away in her sleep as all saints of God should go. We will miss Nellie's love, kindness, care and candor.
Nellie is survived by her precious daughter, Carolina Venzor of Monahans, three sisters Theresa Watters and Francis Davila both of Odessa, Tx and Yolanda Sotelo of Monahans. She is also survived by her beloved nieces, nephews and many friends.
