Opal Lee (Pickering) Coble was born on July 21, 1934 to Harry Alfred Pickering and Katy Euple (Freeze) Pickering in Stone County, Arkansas. She departed this life on July 4, 2020. Opal was better known to her friends as "Polly", a name given to her by her grandfather. However, if you have ever spoken to one of her grandchildren, you know her as the famous "Magum". She moved to Wickett, Texas as an infant and later attended school at Gensler Elementary. She graduated from Monahans High School in 1951. At the young age of 17, Polly married Lindell Coble in Lovington, NM. Polly was a loving mother to her three daughters: Terrye, Merry, and Sherry.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing games, and sewing. She was a homemaker and an avid volleyball fan. After her girls were raised, she began a variety of careers. She worked as a hot shot driver, worked at The West Texas Children's Home, and then served as the Ward County Deputy Treasurer until she retired in 2006. She was an active member of the Church of Christ throughout her life.
As the Matriarch of our family, Magum will be dearly missed. She was a
good-natured, funny, caring, Christian woman. She had a positive impact on the lives of many. To know her was to love her, and she was deeply loved. She was one of a kind.
She is survived by her three daughters: Terrye Woodall, Merry Ybarra(George), and Sherry Holcomb (Danny); her sister: Lorene White; her five grandchildren: Amanda Woodall, Katy Woodall, Ashlee Ybarra, Chelsea Ybarra (and Erik Casarez), and Daniel Holcomb; her nine great-grandchildren: Ray Ricks, Kristalyn Randle, Joseph Murphy, Kenneth Ramsey, Kenzi Ramsey, Kaydance Michael Michelle, Kenda Mikelle, Tristyn Layne, Karyvyn Monroe ; special niece: Patti Woods; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lin, her parents Harry and Euple Pickering, and twin grandsons.
Pallbearers are Danny Holcomb, Daniel Holcomb, Kenneth Ramsey, Kenzi Ramsey, Kaydance Micheal Michelle, Kenda Mikelle, Karwyn Monroe, Tristyn Lane, and Erik Casarez. See www.harkeyfunerals.com for service information.
