Peggy "Jean" Spinks, 88 of Monahans, Texas passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born October 22, 1927 in Texas. She was raised in Lufkin TX. Peggy met Bob Spinks in Houston while he was on leave. He was a navigator and middle gunner with the Flying Tigers during WW II. They were married on November 20, 1945 in Monahans at the First Baptist Church. For their honeymoon Bob and Peggy delivered bits to Penwell. The Spinks called Monahans home where they raised their three children.
Peggy was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church where she was very active in ladies activities, also teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Mrs. Spinks moved to Crossroads Church where she was a greeter and worked with the youth.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Spinks, on January 15, 2004.
She is survived by her son Bobby Spinks and his wife Colleen of Monahans, Janis Lynn Williams and husband Benny of Pampa, and Rebecca Board and husband Roger of Illinois. Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Strickland and husband Steve and their children Jacob & Jordan of Monahans, Jamie Bailey and husband James and their children Kimberly and Brenton of Monahans, Emily Springer and husband Eli and their child Brayden of Wickett, Caitlin Renee Spinks of Monahans, Kathryn Wildrick and her children Chloe, Alli, and Caroline of Plano, Doug Williams and Peggy Williams.
Visitation for Mrs. Spinks will be on Monday August 15, 2016 at Harkey Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Crossroads Church in Monahans with Pastor Issac Denson officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
