Raul Rey, 69, passed away on December 28, 2016 in Imperial, Texas. He was born on April 22, 1947 in Imperial, Texas to Anita and Refugio Rey. He was raised and educated in Imperial, and graduated in 1965. He married Berta Bejarano on July 6, 2010 in Imperial, Texas.

Raul enlisted in the United States Army on August 11, 1966, he served a tour in Vietnam. He was discharged on October 14, 1968 when he returned to Imperial. He worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Phipps Sand and Gravel, later becoming Crockett County. He retired in 2013. He was Catholic, an avid reader mostly western, and worked with wire art.

Preceded in death by his parents, one son, Sammy Rey, one daughter, Josie Gibson, brothers, Heliodoro Rey, an infant brother, and an infant sister.

Raul is survived by his wife, Berta Rey, children, Tracy Gutierrez of Odessa, Texas, Billy Rey of Odessa, Texas, Johnny Rey and wife Alicia Of Odessa, Texas, Jacob Bustamantes of Imperial, Texas, Gerardo Jr Bustamantes and wife Sonia of Imperial, Texas, Siblings, Juanita Tarin of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Hortencia Aranda of Portales, New Mexico, Dora Gutierrez and Husband Candido of Monahans, Texas, Refugio Rey and Ema of Monahans, Texas, Joe Rey of Imperial, Texas, David and Margie Rey of Wink, Texas, 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
