Roy Lee Cartwright of Monahans, TX. received his wings on December 2, 2020 to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Cushing, TX to the union of LC Cartwright and Martha White on November 9, 1947, where he would be the youngest of five children.
Roy Lee grew up in East Texas and when he was a teenager, he and his family relocated to Ft. Stockton, TX. Years later he met the love of his life Alberta Louise Ramsey. They were married June 1,1970 and would remain married (over 50 years) until God called him home.
Roy Lee retired from the Oil Field after working for Gulf, Chevron, and Plains for 35 years. Roy Lee accepted Christ in his Mid-life and became a member of Faith Temple Church, and he rededicated his life to Christ in 2016.
Roy Lee had a passion for old cars and fast cars. He loved fast cars so much he named his dog Turbo. And throughout his lifetime Roy Lee would own many of the cars he loved so much. He loved being around people, making them laugh, and just overall having good conversations. Fellowship with his family is what he loved most. Being around his family especially his grandchildren filled his cup.
Roy Lee was proceeded in death by his father LC Cartwright, and his mother, Martha White. Also, his brothers James Ross, Charles Henry Cartwright, Henry Lee Cartwright, and his sister Hazel Haynes.
Roy Lee is survived by his wife Alberta Cartwright, his daughter Mavis Huston and Son-in-Law Jacob Huston, daughter Chelsea Jackson and Son-in-Law Byron Jackson, and daughter Eureka Roy. Roy Lee was also survived by a half-brother LD Cartwright and Sister-in-Law Tee Cartwright, and half-sister Carolyn Sutton. Together Roy Lee and Alberta has 11 grandchildren: Jhorie, Jae, Kenlee, Kaiya, Italy, Braylon, Ke’Andre, Kayton, Kambree, Blisslynn, and Remington. He was loved and will be missed by a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2020 at The First Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas with pastor Melton Mitchell officiating, burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
