Salvador Ruiz

Salvador C. Ruiz, 81, of Monahans, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Monahans Managed Care Center. He was born November 9, 1933 in Fort Stockton, TX to Thomas and Antonia (Cano) Ruiz.

On October 8, 1955, he married Manuela Holguin in Imperial, TX. She preceded him in death in 2014.

Sal was a self-employed welder for 60 years. He and his wife were very active with Grace Fellowship Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He attended ministries and bible studies, was active with prison ministry, and even traveled to other countries to preach. He was a devoted man who loved God, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed drinking coffee with friends. Sal will be most remembered for always smiling and for the commitment to his wife until she passed. He will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Manuela Ruiz; parents, Thomas and Antonia Ruiz; and brothers, Ricardo Ruiz; and Tom Ruiz.

Sal is survived by his son, Joseph Ruiz and wife Edith of Midland; daughters, Arcelia Acosta and husband Ralph of Midland, Cindy Sanchez and husband Fernando of Monahans, and Nora Miles of San Marcos; brothers, Ernesto Ruiz and wife Manuela of Fort Stockton, Jay Ruiz and wife Aurora of Fort Stockton, Paul Ruiz and wife Yolanda of Odessa; Eugene Ruiz and wife Elodia of Fort Stockton, and Noe Ruiz of Fort Stockton; sisters, Felecita Subia of Odessa, Candia Kelly and husband Sunny of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dominga Molinar of Florida; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 9 AM - 9 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 7 PM in the chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 2 PM at Grace Fellowship Church, followed by interment at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Tim Acosta, Ben Acosta, Josh Oyerbides, Zeke Gonzalez, Isaiah Ruiz, and Logan Acosta will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryan Grantham.
